We The People Foundation Lawsuit
For decades, the government has held that it has no obligation to respond to grievances under the “sovereign immunity” doctrine and that it must consent to being sued when people exercise their constitutional right to petition for a redress of grievances. Now, a pre-trial response to a lawsuit filed by the We the People Foundation, a political watchdog organization, could strike a major blow to the government’s position and lead to a landmark Supreme Court case.
